I’m one owner who got tired of bad advice

PetPickHQ exists because caring for an aging dog is hard enough without sifting through hype and half-truths. Everything here is written from real, firsthand experience with my own senior dog, Chief, researched carefully, and held to one simple test: would I trust it with him?

I started writing here for a simple reason: my dog Chief is thirteen, he’s slowing down, and I kept finding pet-care articles that seemed more interested in selling me something than in actually helping. So I’m writing the honest version instead — what I’m learning, what I’m trying, and what I’m still figuring out, as I go.

I’m not a veterinarian, and nothing here is medical advice. When a decision really needs a professional’s judgment, I’ll say so and point you to your own vet — they know your dog, and I don’t.

I’m one person writing plainly about caring for an aging dog — not a lab and not a vet. Here’s how I try to earn your trust.

I lead with real experience

Where I’ve actually used something — like the orthopedic beds I’ve owned and lived with for my own senior dog over the past couple of years — I write from that.

STEP 02

I say so when I haven’t

For things I haven’t used firsthand, I say so plainly, and I research carefully against reputable sources instead of pretending.

STEP 03

I’m upfront about flaws

If something disappointed me or didn’t help, I say so. The “worth knowing” matters as much as the praise.

STEP 04

I never make medical claims

I won’t say a product treats or cures anything. I share comfort and access options — and I point you to your own vet for anything medical.

STEP 05

I disclose everything

When a link can earn a commission, I tell you, right there. It never decides my recommendation.

STEP 06

I keep it current

I revisit guides as I learn more and as products change, and I date every update.
